Can psychological stress cause abdominal abscess or ulcer?

Last year, I was very sick with an abdominal abscess but we never found out how it got there. My bowel was perfed as well. We've done a lot of tests and I even went to a specialist out of state but we never figured out the cause and ruled out a lot of things. I don't think we ruled out stress. I remember being very stressed and in a really bad mood for two days and the only way to distract me from my bad mood was the pain which was my first symptom. Could it have been stress alone?
