"This battery cannot be used" on brand new Panasonic HDC SD60 Video Camera?

I just bought a brand new HD video camera, and when i turn it on, after about 10-20 seconds it gives me the error message "this battery cannot be used" and that's after i charged it!!! the battery isn't fake or anything...it says "Panasonic" on it..how is this possible?! what can i do? just replace it? it's so frustrating!!!
