Question about scoliosis?

so im 13 and i had to get a chest x-ray and they found i have scoliosis . my doctor thought it wasnt anything to worry about . so a couple weeks later my mom called him and told him my back was hurting , and he said to get a full back x-ray , from my neck too my pelvis . so i did . and everyone says my back looks bad and they can see it and he wants me to see a back specialist and stuff . but he didnt say it was bad or nothing ? but when i stand you can tell that im leaning more to the left and my left ribs stick out more then my right . and i was just wondering if i would have to get surgery ? i really dont want to because im scared . so is there anything i can do to make if better on my own ? :o
