I borrowed a Panasonic HDC-SD9 for a movie project, but I'm having trouble uploading. Help!?

All I got with the camera was a charger so I found a usb cord that fit the slot but when I plugged it into the computer and picked "PC Connect" on the camera a box that says "Please Connect AC Adapter" appears. I found the folder with the camera in my computer but all that's in it is the pictures.
